EDITOR FOR THE ENGINE REBUILDER MAGAZINE

Are you a journalist with a passion for all things automotive? Are you looking for an exciting new freelance opportunity that would allow you to work from home part time and shape the future of a publication in the industry?

If so, TRMG Ltd is recruiting an Editor for The Engine Rebuilder magazine, the essential publication for the engine rebuilding and associated industries. Each issue keeps motoring enthusiasts and industry professionals up to date with the latest news, features, interviews and advice from carefully selected experts.

Published ten times a year, the new Editor would have the opportunity to take control of the publication and develop its future in the industry. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with a vibrant publishing company to work on one of their key titles in print, digital and online formats.

The right candidate for this role should have:

  • • Experience of magazine editing
  • • Experience of commissioning and co-ordinating freelance writers and photographers

ADVERTISING DESIGN MANAGER

Are you a designer with a passion for publications, an admiration for adverts and a flair for organisation? Would you like the opportunity to work for a vibrant publishing company whose work is seen all over the globe? If so, TRMG Ltd are looking for an Advertising Design Manager to join their busy production department.  

TRMG Ltd is the UK’s leading publisher of event programmes, show guides and magazines. They work with leading brands producing superb print and digital publications for events all over the world. With 29 years experience in the business, the company continues to grow year on year. 

In this role you would be responsible for managing a team of four advert designers. As well as managing them, you would join them in arranging the supply, design and production of advertising copy for our publications. This involves liaising with advertisers to ensure we produce and print the right advertisement for their needs, whether that be receiving finished artwork or taking instruction to design artwork to fulfil their brief. The role would also include working on publications to design creative exhibitor listing pages from supplied copy. You would be working across multiple publications to set deadlines.  

Required skills:

  • • Ability to manage and motivate staffDesire to improve current procedures to the benefit of the firm where possible
  • • Excellent design software knowledge: Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat
  • • Good understanding of the printing process and pre-press
  • • Organisational skills
  • • An appreciation of typography and font management
  • • High attention to detail
  • • Good standard of written English
  • • Good telephone manner
  • • Ability to react to multiple change requests in a positive manner
  • • Ability to work to strict deadlines

Main duties:

  • • Manage a team of four advert designers
  • • Make improvements to the systems used where applicable to benefit the company
  • • Ensure the smooth running of the advert design team
  • • Liaise with the Head of Production and Advertising Director on a regular basis
  • • Report directly to the owners of the company when necessary
  • • Manage workflow of advertising orders provided by our sales team
  • • Contact advertisers to discuss requirements
  • • Take briefs to create high quality, creative advertising content
  • • Organise text and images for adverts when required by advertisers
  • • Adhere to brand guidelines where required
  • • Work from client supplied copy and design briefs
  • • Proof adverts with advertisers
  • • Handle updates and amendments to adverts
  • • Ensure adverts are set up correctly and suitable for print
  • • Ensure all adverts have been chased up and approved prior to close
  • • Manage artwork project folders on shared production servers
  • • Create A-Z index layouts from supplied data
  • • Create high-resolution PDFs for press
  • • Check supplied finished artwork PDFs for quality control and pre-press
  • • Upload and approve PDFs to printers' pre-press systems
  • • Work closely with the Advertising, A-Z and Project Management staff
